A Cornish Break…

Hey all!

This post is just what it says on the tin… A few days away in the beautiful county that is Cornwall.

We spend a fair amount of time around these parts as we have family that live here but this was our first trip to Cornwall with Baby I. So naturally I wanted to document some of it. It was also the first proper bit of leave that my husband had since those two weeks of paternity leave in the summer, so it was a much needed trip away for some proper family time.

Baby I got the opportunity to spend quality time with his grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles – there are a lot of them on both mine and my husband’s sides.

We soaked up the beautiful north Cornish coastlines…

A beautiful and straightforward walk to do with a little one is the walk from Chapel Porth to Porthtowan. We did this as a family, our ages ranging from 72 years to 3 months. It was a beautiful, warm autumnal day…

It’s a short and fairly steep walk up from the car park at Chapel Porth to get to the cliffs of the Coastal Path. Most notably on this walk (apart form the stunning sea beneath the cliffs of course) is the presence of the Towan Roath Engine house, a beautiful reminder of Cornwall’s tin mining history.

We took the cliff path (although there is the option of walking along the beach if the tide is low) and soaked in the views. A couple of miles later we arrived at Porthtowan’s legendary Blue Bar and stopped for a spot of lunch/beer/cider/tea/breast milk…

Before heading back to Chapel Porth during the Golden Hour. We even got to see some dolphins!

A beautiful easy, short Cornish coastal walk for all of the family to enjoy!

Later in the week we spent the day at Gwithian beach. This place is very popular with the surfers (even on an autumn weekday) so head here early if you are planning to visit on a weekend or in the summer as parking in the car park can be tricky. Anyway, back to the beach…

Beautiful! You are greeted by an active, wild beach with the raised cliffs of Godrevy to one side, a stunning view of St Ives across the bay and a lovely view of Godrevy Lighthouse out to sea.

We just ambled along this beach, really just soaking in the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea air, the chill of the breeze… I did my first proper spell of baby wearing and both myself and Baby I loved it.

This beach is truly stunning. It almost made me want to learn how to surf!*

*almost, that is…

We had many more fantastic family times and enjoyed one or a few magical sunsets…

Until next time Cornwall!

Big love!
